财务省周五的数据显示，截至5月底，日本的外汇储备下降到1.23万亿美元，比上个月减少了474亿美元，主要原因是外汇证券持有量的减少。
日本当局不会透露国家外汇储备的具体构成，但大多数外汇证券持有量被认为是美国国债。
“几乎可以确定，日本出售了部分美国国债以进行卖出美元、买入日元的干预操作，”NLI研究所高级经济学家上野刚士说。
财政部上周的数据表明，当局花费了9.79万亿日元（约628.5亿美元）在市场上进行干预以支持日元，这被广泛认为发生在4月末和5月初。
