Reed Hastings, Netflix co-founder, has donated $7 million to a super political action committee supporting Vice President Kamala Harris's run for the US presidency, a source close to Hastings revealed on Tuesday.
The source confirmed the report published earlier that day by "The Information."
The publication stated that this is Hastings's largest political donation to a single candidate.
On Monday, after Harris received the majority of Democratic delegates' support to become the party's candidate to challenge Republican Donald Trump, Hastings congratulated her.
"Congratulations Kamala Harris—now it's time to win," he posted on social media platform X.
Under pressure from Congressional Democrats and donors, including Hastings, President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 Democratic presidential race on Sunday and endorsed Harris.
Within 24 hours of Biden's withdrawal, Harris's campaign raised $81 million, marking the highest single-day fundraising total for the 2024 election.
Hastings co-founded Netflix in 1997 and stepped down as CEO in 2023. He now serves as executive chairman of Netflix's board.
